Harbingers of Peace

Harbingers of Peace are objects that reflect the brave members of conflicted and distraught communities who choose to come together, moving beyond their differences, to generate solutions to intractable and often generational problems. These individuals are needed now, more than ever, as war is imposing its toxic foothold all around the world.

Slab built, raw fired and with glass inclusions, oil paints and embroidery on some, the work forms a community, each member ‘stripped to their skin’ with the little parts of themselves they choose to show publicly shining out - sometimes in surprising places.   When they come together in groups, they interact in a space beyond politics and religion in order to understand each other's hopes and dreams for the future. In sharing these, people begin to understand that when we talk - one human to another - we find that what we each seek for ourselves, our children and our families is not so different after all.

Using such open-hearted communication we can build a new story of shared hopes and dreams. From this place of connection we can find a pathway to peace.
